Well, after what seems like an eternity, I was finally able to reopen the doors to my salon on Monday 12th April 2021. Firstly I want to say a huge thank you to all my fabulous loyal clients not only for keeping in touch and joining me through my foray into Facebook and Instagram lives! But also for the hundreds of requests for appointments on reopening.
I have made a few changes to the salon during lockdown, some subtle ones, see if you can spot them when you come in. I have also done numerous online learning courses to keep up to date with regulations and guidelines and refreshing my knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology, in particular with regards to Nails!
New Brand
Many of you will have seen on my social media feeds that I have invested in a new brand of Gel for nails, I will continue to use CND Shellac, where I feel a clients nails are strong enough and where they have previously had no issues with lifting or chipping. However, I have brought into the mix LECENTE Create gels and Builder Gel. Lecente is a UK based brand and offer a fantastic range of colours, which are highly pigmented. It's a one coat system with no need for filing / removal of shine prior to application ( exception is the Builder gel, where a light etching is required).

Builder Gels
Builder gels are perfect for adding strength as well as length to nails that maybe are a little weak or brittle and prone to flaking (delamination). don't you just hate it when you have one nail that has split of snapped and you end up cutting them all down?! Well now you don't have to, with builder gel you can add length to all nails or just those that need it!
I offer two different types of builder gel, CND Plexigel & Lecenete create builder gel, because we all know 'one size does not fit all' right? Both fabulous systems, both offer strength and length,
CND Plexigel offers either 'Shaper', ideal for flat nails that require some apex, great for repairing a split nail without cutting it, or maybe just a little length adding. Plexigel builder is perfect for creating beautiful enhancements.
Lecente Create builder, is perfect for adding strength to thin weak nails as well as adding length if desired.
Which to choose? This depends on the condition of your nails and your lifestyle. Builder gels are designed to be rebalanced every 3-4 weeks and not soaked off entirely.
Do Gels ruin your nails?
Simple answer : NO
Incorrect application, i.e. over enthusiastic filing of the nail plate in preparation and incorrect removal, i.e. not removed in accordance with manufacturers instructions OR picking! When you pick at gels because they may have lifted, you can cause damage to your natural nail plate, usually indicated by small white marks on the nail!
